POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

1. A current license as a Paramedic preferred.
2. Current EMS instructor certification required.
3. Minimum of five years active experience in the EMS field within the past ten years.
4. Minimum of a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university in the specified discipline or a closely related field or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
5. Experience teaching college level courses is preferred.
6. Ability to communicate effectively with college faculty, staff and students.
7. Experience with distance education/web teaching modalities is desirable.
8. Fluency in Spanish is desirable.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Develop EMS courses which incorporate the currently required EMS state and national curriculum elements.
2. Teach assigned courses and be available to students during the contract period.
3. Prepare course syllabi, course outlines (if necessary) and related instructional materials.
4. Maintain student records, including attendance and grades.
5. Communicate with the laboratory/simulation technician regarding needed supplies, materials, and equipment.
6. Administer student evaluations.
7. Participate in orientation and faculty meetings as requested.
8. Participate in student retention activities as requested.
9. Promote college educational programs and services to the communities served by WNC.

Employment is contingent on the completion of appropriate background verification, which may include criminal history, credit history, sex and violent offender registry, education verification licensure and employment history to be administered by the Western Nevada College Human Resources office.

The appointee must be able to work in a latex environment and will be subject to a criminal background check.

Newly hired faculty must assure that their official transcript is sent by the degree granting institution(s) to Western Nevada College, Human Resources Office within 30 calendar days from the effective date of employment. Academic degrees must have been awarded by regionally accredited institutions.
