As the Verification Coordinator for the Financial Assistance Office, the incumbent processes Verification and coordinates the Verification process. The incumbent must stay current on continually changing federal laws, regulations, and processes related to federal financial assistance. This position collaborates and consults with the financial assistance team on policy development, interpretation and implementation of Federal Methodology, verification requirements, and federal/state regulations. As the functional Technical Systems Specialist, the incumbent collaborates and consults with the Director on financial aid technical systems and processes. Processes may include, but not limited to, ISIR processing; packaging and disbursing aid technical processes; testing PeopleSoft Bundles; and other federal, state and institutional aid processes.

POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

1. Bachelor’s degree and three years of related professional experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted for the Bachelor’s degree (i.e., AA+ 4yrs related professional experience). A minimum of an Associate’s degree is required.
2. Minimum of 3 years experience working with Title IV financial assistance required.
3. Minimum of 1 year experience developing queries related to processing, tracking and reporting financial assistance preferred. PeopleSoft experience is preferred.
4. Experience using word processing and spreadsheet programs (Word & Excel) required.
5. Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
6. Experience working with diverse populations and using problem solving skills to provide service to students, staff, and college leadership is preferred.
7. Experience using EdConnect, NSLDS, CPS, COD, and other financial aid software preferred.
8. Fluency in Spanish is a strength.

Duties and Responsibilities

The incumbent is responsible for the following:

1. Coordinate the Verification workflow process.
2. Process Verification.
3. Review and develop Verification forms.

4. Use Department of Education software and web resources including, but not limited to, EdConnect, COD, NSLDS, and CPS to process aid.
5. Use internal Financial Aid processing tools including, but not limited to, OnBase and Microsoft Office.
6. Develop and update procedure documentation to outline current business practices.

7. Process and present to the Director all Professional Judgment cases including: COA adjustments, Dependency Override requests, Separation of Income, and Income Adjustment requests.
8. Produce reports and build queries using PeopleSoft query tools.
9. Coordinate and provide technical support for testing all PeopleSoft upgrades.
10. Research best practice business processes and representing the college at NSHE System Wide ASG meetings. Serve as liaison with WNC’s Application and Support department, work regularly with NSHE Systems Computing Services staff, and other PeopleSoft Module and Project Leads.
11. Maintain regular query reports and weekly Query Based Updates (QBU) processing jobs.
12. Conduct internal file audits of financial assistance eligibility documents including, but not limited to, verification documents, loan request forms, and R2T4 calculations.
13. Assist students and parents with financial assistance questions and concerns related to FAFSA completion, processing, verification, etc.
14. Participate in College Financial Aid Nights and Outreach.
15. Participate in program assessment and program review.
16. Serve on WNC and NSHE Committees.
17. Participate in professional organizations such as NAFAA, WASFAA, and HEUG.
18. Perform other duties as assigned.
